Chester Cup Verdict. (Jordan Yates' Chester May Festival 2018 Preview)

3.35: Chester Cup (Class 2) (2m 2f) (Handicap)

The Chester Cup is one of the feature contests of the whole May Festival, it’s a Class 2 contest that’s ridden over a trip of two miles and two furlongs. This year it’s been moved backed to the Friday where it’s likely to bring in a bumper crowed as it’s a race that’s always proved a popular affair.

It’s a contest that’s always a really tough puzzle to solve as it’s always a fiercely competitive affair. I’ve narrowed it down to two selections here as I imagine many firms will be offering lots of places, the first of these comes in the form of FUN MAC for Hughie Morrison and Oisin Murphy. He ran a belter in this

last year when drawn high and finished a close up third, he’s got a lot kinder draw this time around however and could well play a big role.

FUN MAC - 14/1 (E/W)

The second one I like is MY REWARD for Tim Easterby and David Allan. He’s a horse that loves it around here and likes to make his presence felt from the front, I was here when he won a Listed Handicap back in September last year and if he returns in that kind of form again he could well be involved.

MY REWARD - 14/1 (E/W)
