Gowran Park Thyestes Chase Preview. (25/01/2018)

A fantastic midweek card at Gowran Park takes centre stage this Thursday which the feature being the Grade A Handicap Chase that is the Thyestes over 3 miles and a furlong.

It's of course thrown up an expected really competitive renewal with Gordon Elliott dominating the top of the market with the current three market principals all trained by the man himself. The most notable of these appears to be the former Warren Greatrex horse Out Sam, who talented apprentice James Bowen makes the trip over to ride. This particular horse has had a lot of support in the last few days and consequently finds himself as the market leader at around a general 4/1.

I'm going to take a chance on one at a more sizeable price though and that comes in the form of ISLEOFHOPENDREAMS for Willie Mullins. Willie has a good record in this race and has won it in recent years with the likes of On His Own and the almighty Djakadam.

As for this one though he's a strange on really, I mean not personally i'm sure he's lovely but statistically speaking we don't really know how good he could be. Amazingly he's only had the one run over fences for Willie which he won over at Cork and I just think there might be a bit of untapped potential with him. He's currently trading at a general 12/1.
